Accessibility

Last updated: November 2, 2026

Haunts of Richmond, a brand of Richmond Historic Haunts LLC, is committed to making our website, ghost tours, and related services welcoming and accessible to as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We welcome feedback when visitors encounter a barrier or need assistance accessing information, making a reservation, or selecting an appropriate tour.

Our Website Accessibility Approach

We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as a guide for improving the usability and accessibility of our website.

Our ongoing accessibility efforts include seeking to provide:

Because websites, browsers, assistive technologies, and third-party services continue to change, we cannot guarantee that every page or feature will be fully accessible in every situation. We regularly review the website and address accessibility concerns as they are identified.

Third-Party Services and Content

Some website features are supplied or operated by third parties. These include the FareHarbor reservation system and may also include maps, embedded media, social-media content, or websites operated by our event and venue partners.

We do not control the accessibility of these third-party systems, and their features may change without our knowledge. If you encounter difficulty using a third-party feature connected with our services, please contact us. We will make a good-faith effort to provide the information you need or help identify another reasonable way to complete your request.

Accessibility of Our Tours and Events

Our six traditional outdoor walking-tour routes can generally accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters. However, the tours travel along public streets and sidewalks in historic areas of Richmond. Depending on the route, guests may encounter brick paving, cobblestones, uneven surfaces, curbs, inclines, construction, and other conditions outside our control.

Haunted Capitol Hill includes a steep and prolonged incline and may not be appropriate for every guest with a mobility limitation. An alternate route can avoid the stairs, but it does not avoid the steep terrain.

Accessibility conditions for pub crawls, museum programs, Haunted TukTuk tours, haunted dinners, and other special or partner events may differ because they can involve vehicles, indoor spaces, partner venues, equipment, or other conditions that we do not control.

Service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act are welcome. They are not required to have certification, registration, a vest, or other special identification, but they must remain under the control of their handler.

More detailed information about walking distances, terrain, seating, restrooms, lighting, sensory conditions, service animals, and available accommodations can be found on our Know Before You Go page.

Requesting an Accommodation

Depending on the tour and the guest’s needs, possible accommodations may include:

Available accommodations may depend on the tour, route, surrounding conditions, partner venue, and amount of advance notice provided. We will make a good-faith effort to consider reasonable accommodation requests.

When booking one of our traditional walking tours, you may describe your accessibility or accommodation request in the space provided during the booking process. You may also contact us before booking so that we can discuss your needs and provide the most relevant information.

Please submit accommodation requests as early as reasonably possible.
